Benjamin Tan
As Senior Director of Microsoft Communications Sector’s Mobile Business Unit, Benjamin Tan is the overall leader of the sales and business development function for Windows Phones in the Greater China Region.
In this position, Benjamin is responsible for driving Windows Phone sales and mobile services revenue across China, Hong Kong and Taiwan through advancing commercial relationships and strategic deals with critical partners in the value chain (including China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, HTC, LGE, Samsung, SonyEricsson and local Chinese mobile phone manufacturers.)
Benjamin has spent more than ten years working in Asia’s computer software and telecommunications industries where he has gained extensive experience in sales, business development and marketing.
Prior to his move to China, Benjamin was Senior Manager for APAC and Greater China at Nokia’s Mobile Software Group, based in Tokyo, Japan from 2005 to early 2007. There, he was responsible for Asia-wide marketing efforts of Nokia’s Symbian-based S60 platform.
Before this, Benjamin worked at Microsoft Singapore from 2000 to 2005, where he started as the Technology Specialist responsible for driving the technical adoption and sales of Microsoft client-side technologies, and was eventually responsible as Solutions Marketing Manager for the revenue and market share for two of Microsoft’s largest and most profitable business groups - Windows and Information Worker. Prior to joining Microsoft, Benjamin founded and successfully ran an IT services business, and till this day retains an entrepreneurial streak.
Benjamin holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago and a BBA degree in Marketing from the National University of Singapore.
